It’s that time of year again when the weather is getting nicer and we’re shedding off those layers, laying by the pool, and exposing flesh that hasn’t see the light of day in many, many months. Feels great, right? But what about that sun? How can you prevent a sunburn without relying on potentially toxic sunblock lotions?
It’s surprisingly simple. All you need is a little extra calcium and some fatty acids. End of story.
What? You want more info? All right…
A sunburn is basically an acute reaction to a toxic load of Vitamin D. Vitamin D is created in your skin when exposed to sunlight. It’s also one of the 4 vitamins that is fat-soluble, meaning that it doesn’t flush out of the body as quickly as the water-soluble vitamins. If there’s too much of it, it will cause a reaction (the others are Vitamins A, E, and K).
In order to enjoy the sun while making a lot of Vitamin D but also prevent a sunburn, it is best if we can process this Vitamin D and get it out of those tissues so it doesn’t build up to that toxic load. To process Vitamin D, you need a combination of calcium and fatty acids to pull the Vitamin D out of the tissues and then push it into the blood stream where it can be taken care of.
The best way to do this is with Calcium Lactate and Cataplex F from Standard Process. We take about 3-6 Cataplex F and 5-10 Calcium Lactate if we plan to be outdoors for 3-4 hours (take more if you’re going to be out longer or if the sun is more intense). We’ve used this combo for the last three years, even while in Hawaii, and never needed a drop of sunblock. It really is amazing!
If you do get a sunburn, taking this protocol after the fact will even help you recover (coconut oil is also a great healer).
This combo is also great for helping with Restless Leg Syndrome and Leg Cramps at night, Heat Strokes, Hives and Canker Sores.
Ask about these supplements next time you are in or call today to order some for your family for the summer. The Calcium Lactate also comes in a powder form that mixes well into virtually anything, and the Cataplex F comes in tablets or liquid perles.
